West Coast Road Trip Day Four: Fort Collins, CO To Pinedale, WY May 30th 2021

Day Four – May 30, 2021: 11:48 PM Mountain Time

Today was travel day from Fort Collins, Colorado to Pinedale, Wyoming. It rained for a couple hours, but cleared up the further along we got in Wyoming. We stopped at a roadside restaurant called Chuckwagon. The place was very popular and I ordered coffee for Alex and I. The hostess behind the counter was very kind and offered us refills if we drank the coffee in the to-go cups there.

I noticed we would be passing Rock Springs, WY so I looked up things to do. I found a road, Wild Horse Canyon Road, to bring the Jeep on. Tom and I had fun driving on the dirt road and through mud. After taking photos there, I hopped in the driver’s seat and we continued.

We saw some horses that may have been wild and shot pictures of them. I captured some great footage of them running and kicking up the dust. Another stop on the side of the road was for the historic Landers Road. There were historical signs about the road and the Oregon Trail. You could see the tracks where Landers Road remained.

Shortly before Pinedale, we stopped at the Boulder Store to go to the bathroom. The place had a bar and a restaurant inside as well as a shoe brush outside to take off the dirt. We checked into the Best Western and then had dinner at the Wind River Brewing Company. I ate chips and salsa, had a veggie burger with sweet potato fries, and the Wind River Blonde Ale to wash it down.

We left the restaurant and I drove us to Mormon Row to capture pictures of the Tetons with the old barns. The route from Pinedale to Mormon Row was the most scenic route I have ever driven. There were green hills, charred forests, and beautiful farms as I weaved the Jeep through the countryside. The road followed along the green waters of the flowing Hoback River. I could have spent the whole day on that road.

Mormon Row was as beautiful as ever and we got to witness it at sunset. I had a mini stressful event as I couldn’t open my new SD card as the sun was setting, but I was able to make it happen! I captured some awesome pictures of the Tetons with one of the old barns and birds flying in the foreground. All-in-all, it was a fun and packed day…OH, and I drove through Jackson Hole. I could live there. It is a gorgeous town with a ton of stores, restaurants, and outdoor recreation nearby. Definitely motivation to work harder and make more money!

Time to get ready for bed. Tomorrow, I hike in the Tetons!
