West Coast Road Trip Day One: Colorado May 27th, 2021

Road Trip 2021 Introduction

What up Road Trip Warriors!? I just got back from a road trip I went on with my brother, Alex, and my best friend, Tom. The plan is to post a day-by-day on the events of the trip as noted in a journal I kept. The trip took place from May 27th, 2021 until we returned on June 9th, 2021. Once these posts are concluded, I will create more sections in the websites for recommended breweries, food, and hikes in the states we traveled to.

The states we hit on the road trip include Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana (only touched the state when we were in Yellowstone National Park), Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah (drove through it on the way back to Colorado).

Day One – May 27th, 2021: 9:13 PM Mountain Time

I should catch up in here since the last time I wrote was just after having surgery. I write this journal sitting in Estes Park, Colorado with my best friend, Tom, and my brother, Alex. I just took a hot shower after a long day of traveling…forgot a towel so I dried myself with a shirt.

I smell of a smoke chimney from the guys camping next to us with their fire. I do enjoy the smell of smoke though. I should do a recap of the day. We landed in Denver, Colorado and rented a Jeep Rubicon. It is white with red accents and aggressive tires. It makes a great prop for photos in the national parks we will be visiting.

We stopped in Boulder, Colorado on the way to the campsite and had lunch at West Flanders Brewery. I ordered a veggie burger on rosemary olive oil bread and a side of shoestring fries. The beer I ordered was the “Trippel Lutz,” which is a Belgian Trippel. It was all very good and the beer was tasty. I bought two books at the Boulder Bookstore, The Big Sky, and Mountain Man. I will probably start these while here and update my website whenever we are in hotels.

Looking to hike to Sky Pond tomorrow via the Glacier Gorge trailhead. Captured some images of elk today and homing to capture some stunning landscapes tomorrow. We shall see how it goes, these adventures are worth pursuing!

RTW Note

Thanks for taking to take the time to read this short journal excerpt from the first day of my 2021 road trip. If you enjoyed the blurb and the photos please share this post or leave a like on it. Be sure to check out the subsequent posts for each day of this road trip! We were able to capture some amazing images and videos while out there of landscapes and wildlife! Keep on hiking and stay safe!
