Day Thirteen – June 8th, 2021 10:40 PM Mountain Time
We fit a lot into our last full day on this trip. We walked around Fort Collins, CO. I purchased a Gold book from a rocks and mineral store. They had numerous geodes, quartz, fossils, toys, and books. We went to JAX after and browsed the store. They had camping and hiking gear, guns, military surplus, and outdoor tools. I did not buy anything at the store though.
We went back to West Flanders Brewery in Boulder for lunch. I ordered another veggie burger on rosemary olive bread with shoe string fries. We had chips and guac for an app. I also ordered another trippel lutz beer.
I shopped at a store called NOMAD. The store was owned by three guys, one of which was managing the Boulder, CO store. His name was Kevin and he is originally from New Mexico. We shot the breeze with him about the Boulder area, the housing market around and the store history. He was in the casino business for some time before getting involved with NOMAD. The Boulder location was opened in December 2020. They were looking to open a store in Jackson, Wyoming.
Shortly after, I grabbed an iced coffee with almond milk from OZO coffee. I also snagged a free sticker. While waiting for our room I reserved at Boulder Basecamp, I took Tom and Alex to the bottom of the Flatirons at Chautauqua Park and walked about half-a-mile to shoot some photos.
We checked into Boulder Basecamp hotel and it is so sweet. I ordered an upslope lager from the bar at happy hour and a cup of water. Alex and I rock climbed on the indoor rock wall while I was having my beer and I defeated them both in ping-pong. We headed into Boulder again after clearing the Jeep and ended up watching a magic show performed by a man named Devin. We put Alex into the show.
He did juggling tricks and named off where most of the crowd lived based on the zip code the audience member gave him. He could not get Greenfield Center for Alex, but guessed South Glens Falls. He did get Saratoga Springs when I gave him 12866.
We got a late dinner at Centro Mexican Kitchen. We ordered the salsa sampler as an appetizer and the chips were huge saucers. I ordered the grilled squash and tofu bowl and it was phenomenal. It had peppers, tofu, grilled squash, mushrooms, and lentils. It also came with two small soft wraps to make mini tacos/burritos. I had a Pacifico to wash it down with. Good day to end a wild, fun trip.
